Trucks have new looks

Television ads portray pickup trucks in a Hollywood-like setting with images of a rugged machine piled with a full box of gear pulling a load of heavy machinery amid a swirling cloud of dust on a forbidding work site.
It may be TV, but that’s not too far from reality in today’s work environment.
For decades, the Dodge Ram and the Ford F-150 have led their respective brands in the full-size, light-duty pickup market. And like the actors in those ads, looks are a large part of the attention drawn to the subject.
Auto manufacturers carefully monitor public reaction to design changes.
At this year’s Chicago Auto Show, Dodge and Ford representatives will be paying particular interest for reaction to the new faces brought to these American-built haulers for the 2009 model year.
